Trip to Fleet Air Arm Museum – April 2024

Sadly outdated in this modern world of technological marvels, but still with some signs of their glorious past. No, not the sixteen members who embarked on the mini bus for a tour of the Fleet Air Arm museum at Yeovilton (but still oddly appropriate, come to think of it), but the many aircraft and other items kept here on display.

Part of the National Museum of the Royal Navy, the museum showcases the history of naval aviation from before the First World War up to today. There are aircraft, helicopters, models, displays of all sorts of objects, a walk through aircraft carrier operations display and a Concorde to stroll through as well all set out in four huge halls. Remarkably, everyone turned up on time, no one went missing and all sixteen gathered at the specified time for coming home, although our Chairman pushed his luck as always, last with two minutes to spare.

I think everyone enjoyed this trip, as I certainly did.
