Adventure group – Splat Attack

Sometimes described as “pain free paintball”, Splat Attack is a gentler (but just as fun) shooting game involving running, hiding and dodging those splats.

Getting there From Dawlish follow signs to Dawlish Warren.  The Langstone Cliff Hotel is on the right as you head towards the seafront.

Buses and a train service are available or, for the more energetic, the coast path runs past the hotel.

Date and start time Date to be confirmed.  Options are currently the weekends of 15th/16th July and 22nd/23rd July, starting at 10am.
Please aim to arrive there about 15 minutes before the start time.
Duration 1 hour.
Cost £7.50 for 100 splats. Additional splats can be purchased.
Cost includes A choice of three splat missions. Safety briefing, use of all necessary safety equipment, guns and splats.
Equipment provided Helmets; goggles; splat chest and neck protectors; splat guns and splats.
Deadline for commitment Please notify Carolyn by Sunday 9th July if you wish to attend. Please indicate your availability for the given dates.  She will then select one date based on the majority availability.
How and when to pay Splat Attack is paid for on the day.
Cancellation policy If, having booked a place, you are unable to attend please notify Carolyn as soon as possible.
Procedure for notifying group if provider cancels In the event of cancellation Carolyn will send an email to all those who have booked and update the details on the website.

Please check the website on the morning of the activity in case of last minute cancellation.

Level of fitness required or any particular skills (you must satisfy yourself that you are physically able to participate in the activity). The game can require a high degree of exertion although the more passive hiding-behind-a-straw-bale option is also a reasonable tactic.  If you suffer from asthma or heart disease etc this may not be for you.
Personal medical conditions If you have any medical conditions that might affect your ability to join in with this activity then you should declare this to the instructor on arrival.
Terms and conditions Participants will be expected to sign a disclaimer prior to taking part.
Disclaimer Please note that whilst the u3a organisers are concerned for everyone’s welfare, by taking part in this activity you should recognise that your safety is your own responsibility.
Appropriate footwear & clothing

Boots or trainers with ankle support and deep tread/rubber soles are recommended.

Clothing should be weather appropriate and washable. (Splats should wash out with no staining but we recommend you don’t wear your Sunday best.)

Take sunscreen if you need it.

Toilet / refreshment facilities Toilets and a restaurant/cafe are available in the hotel.
Storage of personal belongings There is a safe space for small personal items in the welcome tent but anything larger should be left in your car.
Public transport and car parking Pedestrian access is provided from the top gate to the hotel off the main road. If driving, go down the hotel’s driveway turning right at the island, then right again. Pay and display parking available.

Buses run past the hotel and it is eight minutes walk from Dawlish Warren train station.
