Theatre Group – August 2023

The Festival Players Theatre Company presented Twelfth Night in the beautiful grounds of Powderham Castle one sunny evening.

A group of us went armed with our blankets, chairs and picnics and settled down for an evening’s entertainment and we were not disappointed.

Despite two cast members who had to step in at the last minute, it certainly did not affect the quality of the entertainment.  This is one of Shakespeare’s more frivolous plays with plenty of humour and at times slightly risqué! All in all, this was a thoroughly entertaining evening helped by the atmosphere created by the house martins dodging in and out of the Castle outbuildings.

Closer to home, the much-anticipated Lady Killers was on at the Shaftesbury in Dawlish. Was anybody attending not a member of our u3a on the evening six of us went? As usual there was an excellent cast, and the leading lady known to many of us, gave an entertaining performance of a slightly dotty albeit formidable landlady.
