Adventure Group – Pengelly caves walk

For this one, the Adventure Group is making its first foray underground – why don’t you join us?

Note that the entrance to Russets Lane involves a sharp right turn if you are travelling south on the B3380.  Pengelly Caves are not well marked.

Duration Approx 2 hours
Cost £6 per person
Cost includes Safety briefing at the start, followed by a guided group walk around Pengelly caves and quarry.
Equipment provided Helmets are supplied.
Deadline for commitment Please notify Miggie by Thursday 4th May if you plan to attend so she can calculate the cost and notify the Centre.
How and when to pay The full cost per person to be paid to Dawlish and District u3a Treasurer by Thursday 11th May.

Cancellation policy There will be no refund on this adventure because this activity is booked as a single price for the whole group.
Procedure for notifying group if provider cancels In the event of cancellation by Pengelly Centre, Miggie will send an email to all those who have booked and update the details on the website.

Please check the website on the morning of the activity in case of last minute cancellation.

Level of fitness required or any particular skills (you must satisfy yourself that you are physically able to participate in the activity). Ability to climb stairs and follow guided walk for approximately 45 minutes, sometimes  on rough terrain.

The site is not wheelchair accessible.

Personal medical conditions If you have any medical conditions that might affect your ability to participate in the guided walk then you should declare this to the instructor on arrival.

Appropriate footwear & clothing Waterproofs and stout shoes.

You may find it helpful to bring a torch if you have one.

Storage of personal belongings Personal belongings can be left on site in the museum which will be locked and has an alarm.
Toilet / refreshment facilities Toilets are available on site but no refreshments.

For those wishing to stay for lunch, nearby options are the Dean Court
Farm shop or Buckfast Abbey.

Public transport and car parking facilities Free car parking is available on site.

COVID-19 Although COVID rules have been relaxed, we ask group members to respect each others’ personal space and ensure physical distancing where possible. It is recommended that you take hand sanitiser.
