Adventure Group go Clip n Climbing

Hats off to all the Adventure Group members who made their way to Exeter Quay for our latest climbing adventure! Clip ‘n’ Climb is a colourful, fun and occasionally challenging way to have a go at climbing.

The adventure began with climbers being strapped into their harnesses then invited to watch a short safety video. We were assured that if we did as we were told, the climbing would be completely safe because the automatic belays would catch us when we fell. A good job really.

Comforted by this knowledge, group members attacked the various climbs with varying degrees of confidence. Jen gets a special mention for being the first to complete the Stairway to Heaven (a series of spiralling poles, getting more wobbly as they increased in height, and culminating in a launch from the top) and Dave was the only one to attempt the Leap of Faith (walking the plank some 30 feet in the air and jumping forwards to reach a trapeze-style bar).

Elsewhere, group members shinned up telegraph poles, chimneys, giant spheres, twisted girders, hexagons and all manner of vertical puzzles.

Fortunately, all survived and hopefully will have some impressive photos to share with their families this Christmas.

If you would like to have a say in which adventures we try out next year, please come to the annual meeting of the Adventure Group on Friday 10th January at 10am in the Manor House Dawlish. All group members are invited to send in their suggestions for future activities beforehand and we will vote for our favourites at the meeting. Further information can be found here.
