Adventure group – Quad biking experience

What an experience!  The second of the two groups of adventurers took to the saddle today to have a go at quad biking.  We had heard from the first group that it was “brilliant”, “utterly terrifying” and physically quite hard, and they were not wrong!

Speaking personally, I discovered that I have absolutely no natural aptitude for quad-biking at all.  None whatsoever!  Many of the others went whizzing off confidently in our practice session, whilst I crept nervously round the track, leaning when I shouldn’t and  – against instructions – using the brakes on the downhills!  Fortunately though, most of us got round unscathed.

The off road safari took us up hill and down dale, covering a mixture of track, from relatively smooth stretches of grass to incredibly rutted, puddly tracks.  Even the bravest among us found it “interesting” at times.

Whilst one half of the group went on safari, the other half took part in an obstacle race.  Barry was undisputed champion at 2 minutes, 47 seconds, with Michael a very close second at 2 minutes 50 seconds.  Sue B won the award for being the only person to get round without hitting any of the designated obstacles.

You’ll have to ask our members whether they would do it again.  The joy of the Adventure group is that we have the chance every month to go out with friends and try something new.  And who knows, each adventure could be the start of a whole new hobby!
