Adventure group – Line dancing

Now for something completely different!  For our pre Christmas jolly we are heading back to Newton Abbot for a session of line dancing.  There’s no excuse if you can’t dance and you don’t have to bring a partner.  This is a session for complete beginners with the emphasis on fun.

Please aim to arrive there about 15 mins before this.
Duration 1 hour
Cost £5 per person
Cost includes A one hour line dance lesson with instruction provided by an experienced dance instructor.
Deadline for payment in full The full payment of £5 should be paid to Dawlish & District u3a Treasurer by the end of Sunday 13th November.

Bank transfers are preferred but if you wish to pay by cheque please ensure the Treasurer has your cheque in sufficient time for it to clear by the deadline.

Cancellation policy “All courses are non-refundable. Refunds will only be issued in the unlikely event of cancellation of a class or workshop by Danceworks Devon, and they will not be issued for situations outside of our control.” (Source)
Procedure for notifying group if provider cancels In the event of cancellation I will send an email to all those who have booked and update the details on the website.  Please check the website on the morning of the activity in case of last minute cancellation.
Level of fitness required or any particular skills (you must satisfy yourself that you are physically able to participate in the activity). Line dancing involves a degree of exertion but you will be able to sit out if needed.
Personal medical conditions If you have any medical conditions that might affect your ability to dance then you should declare this to the instructor on arrival.

Appropriate footwear & clothing Casual clothing is appropriate.  Feel free to don a checked shirt, jeans and cowboy hat to get into the spirit of the activity!

Flat bottomed shoes are best.
Trainers and other shoes with highly textured and non slip soles are NOT recommended.

It is recommended that you take a bottle of drinking water with you.  Line dancing is thirsty work!

Toilet / refreshment facilities Toilets are available at the studio.

There is a bar selling hot, cold and alcoholic drinks, cake and chocolate.

Equipment provided None is needed.

Public transport and car parking facilities The bus stops on Sherborne Road are about a 6 minute walk from Danceworks Devon (timetable available here).

The dance studio is a 12 minute walk from Newton Abbot railway station.

The nearest public car park is in front of the police station on East Street. (Newfoundland Way car park)

It is recommended that you take hand sanitiser and use it before dancing.  Lateral flow tests and face masks are optional but encouraged.
