Adventure group – Brixham Fish Market
Fancy a bite of fish? If you have ever wondered how fish get from the sea to your plate then this is your chance to find out.

Date and start time | Wednesday 1st May 2024, 6:15 am. Please aim to arrive 15 minutes beforehand. |
Duration | Approximately 1.5 hours |
Cost | £10 per person (excluding breakfast) |
Cost includes | Following a safety briefing, you will witness the operational side of the daily fish auction process, get an insight into how this fascinating process works, gain an understanding of what’s involved in getting the fish from sea to plate, learn about trawlers and rub shoulders with up to 40 different species of fish. |
Equipment provided | Protective equipment comprising white coats, boot covers and a hair net will be provided; these must be worn. |
Deadline for payment | The full amount (£10) to be paid to Dawlish and District u3a Treasurer by Sunday 21st April.

Deadline for commitment | Please book your place by emailing Deborah via adventure@u3a.dawlish.info no later than Sunday 21st April. |
Cancellation policy | If the venue need to cancel then another date will be arranged. If you cancel after April 21st your payment will not be refunded but you are welcome to find somebody to take your place. |
Arrangements if cancellation necessary | The venue will contact Deborah if they need to cancel and notification will be made by email to all those who have booked. A message will also be placed on this web page. Individuals who need to cancel should contact Deborah via adventure@u3a.dawlish.info. |
Level of fitness required or any particular skills (you must satisfy yourself that you are physically able to participate in the activity). | The tour covers a large market and is all on foot. Please only book if you are fit and capable of being on your feet for two hours. |
Personal medical conditions | If you have any medical conditions that might affect your ability to participate then you should declare this to the tour leader on arrival. |

Appropriate footwear & clothing | The fish market is a refrigerated area so be sure to wear warm clothing. Also sturdy footwear. |
Storage of personal belongings | No storage is provided. |
Toilet / refreshment facilities | Toilets are available at the start and end of the tour. The optional breakfast will be arranged separately afterwards. |
Meeting point | Meet outside the fish market gates, at the blue tower in front of the Rockfish restaurant. |
Public transport and car parking facilities | Lift sharing can be arranged. The nearest car park is the Freshwater Quarry Car Park, approximately 0.3 miles walk from the fish market. |
COVID-19 | Although COVID rules have been relaxed, we ask group members to respect each others’ personal space. It is recommended that you take hand sanitiser. |
