I am the author of three previous books, and a number of literary/historical articles as well as the editor (and contributor) of a new book on John Buchan’s life and work to be published in August 2025, the 150th anniversary of his birth.

The book’s title is “John Buchan Reconsidered: Thirty-Nine Years of War and Peace, 1901-1940.”

The talk will be a fast-paced, richly illustrated talk on this new book with many historical slides that your audience will not have seen. Buchan (author of course of “The Thirty-Nine Steps“) played an important part in three wars, as well as being a figure of enormous influence – both politically (a supporter of women’s suffrage and full rights for UK’s African subjects for instance) and in literary terms. Yet his real views on many matters over three decades remain misconceived or unknown.
