Adventure Group – Town Quiz and Scavenger Hunt

In a change from our recent somewhat extreme activities, the Adventure Group is slowing the pace but not the fun with a walking quiz and scavenger hunt in Dawlish.

Here are the details:

Nature of activity Town Quiz and Scavenger Hunt

Location of activity Dawlish town centre and environs.
Date and start time Thursday 7th July, starting between 10:45am and 11:30am 
Feel free to arrive at any time within this period to facilitate a staggered start.  Your start time will be recorded by the organisers
Starting point The Bandstand, The Lawn, Dawlish.
Finishing point The Brunswick Arms, 10 Brunswick Place, Dawlish.
Duration 1 to 2 hours
Cost, including deposit required £1 per person, payable on the day. No deposit required!
Cost includes Printed quiz sheet (one per person) and contribution towards prize(s).
Provision of equipment The quiz sheet is provided.

You should bring your own pen or pencil and (if possible) a clipboard.

Deadline for commitment Although we are unlikely to turn anyone away, it would be helpful if you let us know as soon as possible and definitely by Tuesday 5th July if you plan to come so we can inform the Brunswick Arms and print off the right number of quiz sheets.
How and when to pay Please bring cash on the day.
Cancellation policy If it is raining the quiz will still take place, just bring your umbrella! However, under these circumstances, if you prefer to just join us in the pub that’s OK too.
Procedure for notifying group if provider cancels In the event of cancellation Miggie will send an email to all those who have booked and update the details on the website.
Please check the website on the morning of the activity in case of last minute cancellation.
Level of fitness required or any particular skills (you must satisfy yourself that you are physically able to participate in the activity). Ability to walk up to two miles on various surfaces (mostly pavements) whilst searching for answers.
Personal medical conditions If you have any medical conditions that might affect your ability to complete the quiz and scavenger hunt then you should declare this to the organisers on arrival.
Disclaimer Please note that whilst the u3a organisers are concerned for everyone’s welfare, by taking part in this activity you should recognise that your safety is your own responsibility.
Appropriate footwear & clothing Weather-suitable everyday clothing; comfortable walking shoes or boots.
Toilet / refreshment facilities Public toilets can be found in the main public car park and near the traffic lights.
Refreshments are available at the Brunswick Arms and in many local cafes.
Public transport and car parking facilities Car parking is available on street and in the town’s two car parks.
COVID-19 Although COVID rules have been relaxed, we ask group members to respect each others’ personal space and ensure physical distancing where possible. It is recommended that you take hand sanitiser.  Lateral flow tests and face masks are optional but encouraged.
Risk assessment A risk assessment has been conducted.  It is our view that the risks associated with this activity are consistent with everyday activity.  We simply advise participants to take care.
