Adventure group – shooting

By popular demand, our next adventure is to be a shoot-out!  We’ll be going to the Crackshot air gun centre and range near Newton Abbot.  If you wish to take part please contact the organiser.

Here’s what you need to know:

Nature of activity Air pistol and air rifle target shooting and the use of an electronic shooting simulator.

1-2 Sabre Close, Heathfield, Newton Abbot, Devon, TQ12 6TW
Date and start time Due to the level of demand, we will be arranging two visits to Crackshot: on Thursday 24th March and Friday 1st April, both 2:30pm start.
Please aim to arrive there about 15 mins before this to allow time for payment of balance.
Duration 1.5 to 2 hours
Cost, including deposit required £30 per person
Cost includes Each group will have approximately half an hour on each of the two gun ranges and the simulator.  All equipment is provided, including unlimited ammo.

Instruction will be provided by experienced trainers.

Terms and conditions Please familiarise yourself with Crackshot’s terms and conditions and their range rules.  For your own safety, participation is dependent upon compliance with these.
Deadline for commitment £10 deposit per person to be paid to Dawlish and District u3a Treasurer by Thursday 10th March.

Deadline for payment in full The balance of £20 should be paid to Crackshot on arrival at the range.
Cancellation policy Full refund for cancellation up to 48 hours before event; thereafter your deposit may be transferred to another booking with Crackshot.
Procedure for notifying group if provider cancels In the event of cancellation I will send an email to all those who have booked and update the details on the website.  Please check the website on the morning of the activity in case of last minute cancellation.
Level of fitness required or any particular skills (you must satisfy yourself that you are physically able to participate in the activity). Two of the ranges are upstairs so you need to be able to climb stairs.
You will also need to support the weight of an air rifle for short periods.
Personal medical conditions If you have any medical conditions that might affect your ability to shoot then you should declare this to Crackshot on arrival.
Disclaimer Please note that whilst the u3a organisers are concerned for everyone’s welfare, by taking part in this activity you should recognise that your safety is your own responsibility.
Appropriate footwear & clothing Casual clothing and comfortable shoes.  The ranges are indoors so no specialist clothing is required.
Toilet / refreshment facilities Toilets are available.  Crackshot have a small selection of snacks and tea and coffee facilities available for customers to purchase whilst at the range.
Equipment provided All guns and ammo.
Meeting point In the Crackshot shop (as you enter the building).
Public transport and car parking facilities Public transport isn’t really feasible.
Free car parking is available onsite.  If you can offer or need a lift please contact the organiser.
COVID-19 Crackshot are COVID aware and ensure all equipment is cleaned between uses.

Although COVID rules have been relaxed, we ask group members to respect each others’ personal space and ensure physical distancing where possible. It is recommended that you take hand sanitiser since some equipment will be shared.  Lateral flow tests and face masks are optional but encouraged.
