Bookworms news 2019
We all enjoyed Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. Barrie has chosen another female author for September, The Little Red Chairs by Edna O’Brian. She was a favourite of mine in the 60s and I have not read this one, so I am anticipating a good read.
Our August book is Eats, Shoots and Leaves by Lynne Truss. As I said in the newsletter, a departure from our usual type of book, so it should be an interesting discussion. The meeting will be on Thursday, 22nd August, usual time, 2 o’clock, 8 Honeysuckle Drive, Dawlish. I will sent out reminders the week before.
Bookworms meet again on Thursday, 24th October at 2 o’clock. We looked at books inspired by Shakespeare’s plays and selected Hag-Seed (the Tempest retold) by Margaret Atwood. Margaret Atwood is a prolific writer. Her works include The Handmaid’s Tale, recently featured on Channel Four. We are a rapidly growing group but
can always find a place for new members, you will be very welcome.
