Quiz group – March/April 2025

We were able to meet up twice in March, the quizzes covering a wide range of topics. There was a full house for the first quiz and we tackled questions on General Knowledge, The UK, Agatha Christie, Blood, Indian Cuisine and By design.

There were some high scoring rounds and I am of the opinion that the group spend a lot of time in Indian restaurants as that topped the score sheet. However, Agatha Christie would turn in her grave realising what a poor result she received!  I don’t think they will let them into Greenway.

There was one 10 out of 10 round and a few 8s and one 9. The scores are secondary to the fun we have of sharing together, even if I sometimes give out some dodgy answers.

As normal, pick your wits as I give a flavour of each round:

  • In what year did Concorde make its final commercial flight?
  • How many counties make up Northern Ireland?
  • Who is the Chief of police in the Poirot novels?
  • What is the term used to indicate low blood pressure?
  • From what is the Indian dish dahl made?
  • Which British design guru founded the Habitat store chain in 1964?

By the time we started our second quiz, Spring had sprung and the quizzers sprung into action, answering questions set on the following six themes: By tradition, General Knowledge, In Business, Markets, Bearing up and Beliefs and ideals.

The quizzers are to be applauded for their knowledge of both the traditions and bearing up but let’s not mention business!

So, your turn to work the following out:

  • What is the traditional gift for a couple’s 2nd wedding anniversary?
  • What is the denomination of green Euro note?
  • Which airline in 1979 was the first to introduce business class?
  • The Lace market is a historic area of which city?
  • What is the collective name for bears?
  • Which country do Rastafarians regard as the promised land?

We look forward to our April quizzes on Mondays the 7th and 28th at 7pm.
