In Our Own Write – December 2021

In Our Own Write had a preliminary planning meeting on Wednesday 24th November. Currently there are three active members. I understand that six is probably the maximum number in the current climate.

We decided that the day/ time that suited us best would be the 2nd Monday of the month from 2-4 pm and meetings will be held in each other’s homes. The next meeting will be on Monday 13th December at 41 Curlew Way, Dawlish EX7 0FT.

It was also apparent that a sense of humour was essential and we definitely had a light-hearted meeting.
The “ homework” we are bringing to the meeting is “Christmas in a country we know well”. In my case it is Sweden, where my son lives; Eileen is writing about The Canaries where she lived, and Teresa on Germany where she lived.

We all have the information from the U3A Creative Writing group and hope to combine this with previous creative writing courses we have been on. We are not aspiring to be the next Charles Dickens or J.K Rowling, although we wouldn’t mind her royalties, but we are aiming to have fun trying.
