Discussion Group – November/December 2024

The Discussion Group met on 13th November to discuss Artificial Intelligence, or, as some call it, “Alien Intelligence”. Although few people could make it, we touched on some interesting good and bad aspects of AI and on how we felt life might change with the new technologies. Whilst acknowledging AI is a reality we need to embrace, the new Robots can replace people in complicated and demanding tasks such as those in the care and health care system and will be beneficial to businesses, it is necessary that steps are taken to protect the privacy of individuals and the security of information in an increasingly inter-connected world in which, however, we live disconnected to each other, in a selective information cocoon.

Our next meeting is planned for the 18th of December (I know, close to Christmas, but some would like to have a break from the anticipation), failing that, the 15th of January, and we’ll be talking about “Life Lessons for our Young Selves”.
