
Adventure group – visit to Beer Quarry caves
September’s adventure takes us back underground again, with a guided tour of Beer Quarry caves.
Here’s what you need to know:

How and when to pay | The full cost per person to be paid to Dawlish and District u3a Treasurer by Friday 5th September.
Bank details are as follows: Name of bank: NatWest *It is really helpful if this is included so the Treasurer can correctly identify your payment. |
Cancellation policy | Payment will be made by the organiser on arrival at Beer Quarry Caves so cancellation is possible until the last minute. However, it will be the participants responsibility to liaise with the u3a treasurer to arrange for a refund. Please notify the organiser as soon as possible if you wish to cancel. |
Procedure for notifying group if provider cancels | In the event of cancellation by Beer Quarry caves, an email will be set to all those who have booked and the website will be updated.
Please check the website on the morning of the activity in case of last minute cancellation. |
Level of fitness required or any particular skills (you must satisfy yourself that you are physically able to participate in the activity). | You should be capable of walking over a rough cave floor.
There is a steep slope from the car park to the entrance. |
Personal medical conditions | If you have any medical conditions that might affect your ability to participate in the guided walk then you should declare this to the guide on arrival. |

Appropriate footwear & clothing | Warm clothing is recommended (the temperature below ground varies from 7 to 9 degrees Centigrade and feels cool in summer); also sturdy footwear appropriate for the cave floor, which comprises sediment including dirt, sand, mud, small rocks etc. |
Storage of personal belongings | It is recommended that you do not take valuables with you. However, personal belongings can be left in a secure space in Reception.

Toilet / refreshment facilities | There are toilets and a cafe providing coffee, tea, cold drinks, cream teas, biscuits, cakes etc. |
Public transport and car parking facilities | Free car parking is available on site.
We recommend car sharing so if you require or can offer a lift then please contact Carolyn who will make the necessary arrangements. |
