Adventure group – January 2022

A very Happy New Year to one and all.

Thank you so much to those of you who made it to our meeting on December 9th, it was great to catch up with everyone and meet some new adventurers – a big welcome to you!

At that meeting we discussed our preferred future adventures, with the emphasis on indoor activities due to the season.  Since then of course, the Omicron variant has yet again thrown a Covid spanner in our works.  This has already caused us to rethink January’s activity and may yet necessitate changing our future plans but as long as we can be flexible I think we’ll be able to find something to do each month.

So (drum roll…) this is what we have in the pipeline:

  • January – Online escape room (Miggie)
  • February – Climbing (Ann)
  • March – Target shooting (Miggie)
  • April – Fencing (Ann)
  • May – Sailing (Miggie)
  • June – Quad biking (Ann)

Ann and I will take it in turns to organise the adventures so if you have any questions about any of the above then please contact us via adventure@u3a.dawlish.info.  We will of course be sending round full information about each of these in due course, and making the details available here on the website.

One activity that we have declined to include in this list was sent to us by Deborah (thanks Deborah).  If you would like to take part in Devon Air Ambulance’s Jubilee Jump Skydive then we wish you luck but you’re on your own!  I know some of you (you know who you are) can’t wait to get airborne so here’s your chance :-).

Finally, but very important, we noted that there was significant interest in a short break to the Manor House Hotel near Okehampton.  We propose to arrange a visit for the Adventure Group between Monday 7th November and Wednesday 9th November 2022.  If you think you may like to go then please save these dates in your calendar now.  Ann will get back to you later this year with further details so do let her know if you are interested.
