Adventure group – Go Ape photos

Well they promised to take us out of our comfort zone and I think they delivered on that!  November’s adventure was at Go Ape in Haldon Forest where the Adventure group spent a fun few hours navigating treetop walks and whizzing down zip lines.  Four of us tried the Treetop Adventure and five of us the longer Treetop Challenge.

Having climbed into our safety harnesses, we started with some basic instruction and the opportunity to practice attaching ourselves to the safety cables which ran everywhere.  From there we advanced under supervision to a very low cable walk and short zipline, then finally we were left to complete the rest of the course at our own pace.

Highlight of the course: definitely the long zipline across the valley – very high, fast and great fun!

Scariest part: the wobbly rope which ran some thirty feet above the ground and threatened to dump us off at any moment.

Most uncomfortable bit: braking with my feet (as instructed) at the end of the zipline and scooping a significant quantity of bark chippings into my trousers.

Would I do it again?  In a heartbeat!
