A message from our Groups Coordinator

Firstly, on behalf of myself, and no doubt all our u3a members, I would like to thank all our present convenors for the work you do to keep so many interesting and varied groups running.

Convening a group can in itself be an interesting and rewarding undertaking. What is required depends on the group’s activities; sometimes it is quite involved and sometimes very straight forward, but in every case it is essential to the group’s existence.

At present, we have 23 groups running covering a wide range of interests, and there is always room for more. If you have an interest that isn’t covered at the moment you could start your own group to bring it to life.

Some groups have closed, sometimes due to lack of interest and, on occasion, due to the absence of a replacement convenor. If you are in an active group where the convenor is stepping down why not pick up the baton?

Our u3a is run by its members for its members and everyone is encouraged to work together to make it as enjoyable as possible for everyone. If you don’t feel that you could run a group, perhaps assisting as a second or assistant convenor would work in some groups.

Any questions regarding any of our existing or possibly new groups please contact me by email; enquiries@u3a.dawlish.info
