Late change to speaker at monthly meeting

At short notice, I am sorry to say we have had to change our guest speaker for our meeting on Monday 20th April.  For personal reasons, our proposed speaker was going to find it difficult to travel here, so I felt we should make a change.  The good news is that we will now be welcoming Alan Pewsey from Dartmoor Search & Rescue team, Ashburton, to talk about his organisation’s work.  Thank you to our Speakers Secretary, Khim Sim, for arranging this at impressively short notice.

Alan writes, ‘We are all volunteers on call 24/7 365 days a year dedicated to assisting the emergency services with the search and rescue of the lost, missing, injured and vulnerable.  This includes children and adults, those with dementia or mental health illnesses.

Without volunteer search and rescue teams like us, the emergency services would not have the resources to devote to the search and rescue of missing or injured loved ones.’

To get a flavour of their work, you might like to visit their website at Dartmoor Rescue Ashburton.

As usual, the meeting will begin at 3.45pm in the Council Chamber of the Manor House, and doors open at 3.30pm.

I look forward to seeing you there.

John Vick, Chair
