Adventure group – Escape room

Back in 2022, Adventure group members had a go at an escape room online.  This is the first time we have had the chance to do one in person. What are you like at cracking codes and solving puzzles? Have you got the skills to escape?  This is your chance to find out!

Here are the usual details:

Nature of activity Solve puzzles and crack codes to escape from Backbeard’s galleon with his treasure before the ship sinks with all on board.

Please arrive 15 minutes before the start time for pre-game safety briefing, waiver completion and gameplay instruction.

Duration Up to one hour and 30 minutes in total
Cost £22.50 per person (for 6 people)
Cost includes Following the pre game briefing, you have 60 minutes to work as a group to crack codes, solve puzzles and complete challenges before your time in the escape room runs out.

A waiver form has to be completed before we start. This can be done on the day at the event.
Deadline for payment The full cost per person to be paid to Dawlish and District u3a Treasurer by Tuesday 18th November.

Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Cancellation policy Your payment for this adventure is not refundable unless you are able to find someone to take your place.
If you are unable to attend, please notify Carolyn as soon as possible.
Procedure for notifying group if provider cancels In the event of cancellation Carolyn will send an email to all those who have booked and update the details on the website.  Please check the website on the morning of the activity in case of last minute cancellation.
Level of fitness required or any particular skills (you must satisfy yourself that you are physically able to participate in the activity). No specific requirements but you can expect to be on your feet for most of the time.
Personal medical conditions Escape Hunt state: “it is your responsibility to contact us regarding the suitability of our games for any health or disability issues that you may be concerned about.”
u3a Disclaimer Please note that whilst the u3a organisers are concerned for everyone’s welfare, by taking part in this activity you should recognise that your safety is your own responsibility.
Appropriate footwear & clothing Comfortable clothing and shoes. We recommend layers as the room may get hot.
Storage of personal belongings There is provision to lock away valuables but we recommend that you leave them at home if possible.
Toilet / refreshment facilities Toilets are available upstairs.
Refreshments are available from the lounge and in house bar. Unfortunately the escape rooms are not wheelchair accessible.
Meeting point In reception
Public transport and car parking facilities Exeter city centre is accessible by both bus and train.
If you take a car the closest car park is in North Street, but we recommend using the Park & Ride.
COVID-19 If you are exhibiting any of the symptoms of Covid-19 or flu, please stay at home to keep everyone safe.
