MEDIA RELEASE

30th December 2021

Dawlish & District u3a Boules Group

Most people associate the sport of Boules with lazy, carefree, warm summer evenings in a shady square somewhere deep in rural France, so the sight of enthusiastic players wrapped up in winter clothes on The Lawns in the heart of Dawlish might come as something of a surprise!  Members of the Dawlish & District u3a Boules Group are not deterred by a temperatures just above freezing with the imminent prospect of rain.  Far from it!  They meet twice a month, outdoors when they can but just occasionally retreat inside if they must, to play a friendly but competitive game.  Overcoming the elements makes the reward of the coffee or hot chocolate feel all the more deserved.  As can be seen from the urgent conversation taking place in this picture, players enjoy each other’s company – but they do like to win as well!
