Notice of Annual General Meeting 2021

We are pleased to give advance notice that our AGM (Annual General Meeting) this year will be held at the Manor House. Please note the date in your diary and be aware of the change of venue.

The AGM will give a report from the Committee on the past year and a Treasurer’s report and account for twelve months ending 31 March 2021; receive any resolutions proposed and carry out the election of Officers and Committee members. Our speaker will be Susan Parker who is the u3a Trustee for the South West.

Timetable

• Closing date for nominations for committee members and for any motions for consideration at the AGM – 20 August.
• Formal notice of the AGM with agenda; details of voting arrangements; accounts for 2020/21 to be sent out by 30 August.

Nominations for the committee

All existing committee members have to seek re-election each year at the AGM. And we very much hope that we will have some new members join in running our u3a. The committee can comprise up to 12 members with a minimum of 6.

We have just come through a very difficult period of lockdown and health worries. However our u3a is emerging with lots of new ideas and potential. Some Committee members will be stepping down this year and it is essential that we can replace them and achieve a full Committee to share the work and the satisfaction of running a successful u3a.

If you wish to stand, please complete the nomination form here stating that you are applying for the role of Chair, Vice-chair, Secretary, Treasurer or as a Committee member.

Committee members are responsible for vital activities in our organisation, such as membership, co-ordinating Group activity and keeping our u3a active. You do not need prior experience of committees; your enthusiasm is the most important asset.

Only paid up members can stand for the committee, propose or second nominations.
Please make sure that the persons you state as nominators have agreed and are paid up members. Existing members of the Committee cannot be nominators.
